Lovely essay. It makes up for all the ugliness confronting us in the news this morning.
I wish for a world where our children are taught the names of flowers and their meanings, can recognize how the light changes in late afternoon, look around them with the eyes of a painter and poet, understand that joy in such things is its own wonder.
Baron, What a way to start the day with this essay. Seems a great reminder to take in the world around us as we do our human doings. Someone just wrote to me saying, "I look forward to meeting up with you when I stop being a human doing and return to a human being." Your essay reminded me of that. Thank you!
Each day to lament and praise is indeed our fortune. A beautiful essay, a tribute to the natural world and our beloved gardens.
Utterly beautiful!
